I have worked in the Computer Science department at North Carolina State University since January, 2006. Previously, I worked at Northwestern University's Computer Science department before the College decided to merge it once more with the ECE department, creating the new EECS department. Before Northwestern, I worked at the University of Alberta's Department of Computing Science, where I was on the faculty since the summer of 1997. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science in August, 1997 under the kind supervision of Dr. Larry Hodges at Georgia Tech's College of Computing. I worked in the interdisciplinary Graphics, Visualization and Usability (GVU) Center. Besides Dr. Hodges, the members of my committee were Neff Walker, Bill Ribarsky, Jarek Rossignac, and Greg Turk, all of whom taught me a great deal. I earned my Masters degree in CS at Georgia Tech in the summer of 1989. I received a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine in 1987. I have also studied at the University of Stuttgart, the University of Mannheim, and the Goethe Institut in Bonn. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and speak fluent German. |
